Places to stay near attractions in Hendersonville

NC

Apple-country town south of Asheville — historic Main Street, DuPont Forest access, and the Cider, Wine & Dine trail.

Hendersonville, North Carolina is the seat of Henderson County and the anchor of Apple Country — the county grows more apples than any other in North Carolina and hosts the North Carolina Apple Festival every Labor Day weekend. The historic Main Street has been consistently ranked among the best small-town Main Streets in the country, with a snaking, tree-lined pedestrian design, the Historic Hendersonville Depot, and the Mast General Store.

Just south of town, DuPont State Recreational Forest offers the same Hunger Games-famous waterfalls (Hooker, Triple, High, Bridal Veil) available from Brevard, and Jump Off Rock in Laurel Park delivers a quick classic overlook right outside town. The Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site in nearby Flat Rock preserves the poet's Connemara farm, and the Flat Rock Playhouse — the State Theatre of North Carolina — has been staging summer plays since 1952.

Hendersonville is on the Cider, Wine & Dine Trail with more than a dozen cideries (Bold Rock, Flat Rock Cider Works, St. Paul Mountain Vineyards) and is an easy 30-minute drive from Asheville, Chimney Rock, and Brevard.
